Video glasses are not new but most of them tend to be ugly as sin, making you look like Star Trek’s No. 1 convention fan at 100 paces.
Myvu has been working hard to shrink them and style them so that consumers can buy what look like a funky pair of sunglasses but with the added bonus of being able to watch movies on the inside.
These are the Crystal 701 iPod Edition glasses for use with iPods, obviously, but also capable of being used readily with any other non-iPod portable video or DVD player. They offers 640 x 480 resolution playback and provide you with the impression that you’re watching an average sized TV from around 8-feet away. The key feature are:
- Full VGA quality - 640 x 480 video output from 2007 iPod range
- Our widest field of view — over 33 per cent wider
- Features Kopin’s CyberDisplay® technology, offering the highest pixel density and sharpest resolution for any video eyewear of its size
- Earbuds from Ultimate Ears® for enhanced comfort, extended bass and sound isolation
- Up to 4 hours of battery life
- 2-piece cable manager
- 2 connected Ultimate Ears earbuds
- Detachable Dock Connector cable
-Remote control unit
The glasses are out now, at least in the US, for around £150.That's cheap when compared to the vastly overpriced Oakley Split Thump MP3 glasses, launched this week.-Martin Lynch
